Charaideo. Ahom Kingdom of Assam was founded by Sukaphaa, a Tai prince. After searching almost every corner of Upper Assam, Sukaphaa finally built his capital in 1253 at Charaideo. So, the name of first Ahom capital is Charaideo. Though capitals changed in due course of time, Charaideo remained the center or Ahom kingdom. Charaideo is near the present-day Sibsagar town of Assam.
