APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:

Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.

Date of APSC 2013 Main results:

Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. • @skud … I didnt do too well, and expecting in the range of 250-260…. This will not suffice for OC candidates and hence I am not contemplating any preparation for Mains… Hope yours went well… please do let me know if I can assist you with anything concerning Geo.

  • I want to seat in apsc exam

  • Karuna K u can qualify as a general candidates if cutoff marks for General is 278 or above it..but I think you sure qualify as a reserved candidates for your category..actually all general qualified candidates means who gets general or Top cutoff marks..(obc /st /SC/ph etc .)…but if a candidate can’t qualify as a general candidates Thn next comes the question of category(obc /SC/st /ph ). etc ..but a general caste candidates eliminated in this process…if all obc /st /ph candidates gets highest marks thn even a single general caste candidates may not qualify..even there is reservation..in that case Post may remain vacant..so general male candidates are Top rank scorer

@pristine Thank you for the valuable input!Do you have 2014 mains papers as I couldn’t get them from the stalls near APSC board,if you have please mail me at iamshruti1990@gmail.com..Also can you share your handwritten notes so that I can use them as examples to prepare my notes.Wish people like you keeps on sharing important inputs with aspiring candidates like us.I would request others who have qualified CCE’15 to please share their experience and strategies they followed for their preparation which can be of great help for candidates like us.

  • @Shruti Sharma: Sociology can’t be compared with subjects like history or science subjects, as too much subjectivity is involved here. The simplicity of the subject sometimes might be deceiving enough to drag some1 down to lower scores. Having said that, studying it scientifically could be rewarding on the other hand. I would suggest not to read mains guide books which are available on the streets. Buy only previous year papers from street stalls and start writing beautiful answers with the help of standard books. While writing, try to incorporate the views of various sociologists, important case studies and current examples. What I think about society is not that important compared to the views held by various thinkers. This is where this subject gets deviated from other huminities subjects. Also i kept the answers to the point. Used both paragraphs and bullet points, sometimes even table and charts to illustrate specific points. I already mentioned some books that i followed during preparation in one of the previous posts. Also plz keep a tab on newspapers for any happening which might be very important from sociological point of view.

  • for obc around 260/270

  • but for OC category(general)..I think more Thn 280…sure……..because less thn 65 posts are left for General male candidates..if someone (from other categories obc /sc /st /ph etc ) gets more marks ..suppose more thn 290 Thn they can qualify as a general candidates….in that case general candidates Hv to score more..(simple answer)…and within general around 30/33 % reserved for General women candidates..so it will be roughest competition for General male candidates….so why someone says that it is Less thn 270 /260 I couldn’t understand…

  • C Gogoi….. I think cut off marks(male and female)..around 250/260 this time…

  • Surajit what ur expectation about OBC cuttoff mark in apsc, 20016/17..

  • surojit.. what ur expection on OBC cutoff in this year prelim
