APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:
Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.
Date of APSC 2013 Main results:
Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. For views and opinion related to APSC civil services exam, don’t forget to view this APSC 2013 discussion page.

This post is for those who still believe people on merit can clear this exam……I hope this can boost your morale. I cleared CCE 2013 without any link and it was my first attempt. People told me a million stories about the corruption in the system. But I did not lose hope, I studied real hard for the mains so that I score enough and MAKE them take me in. My papers went really well. And believe it or not, I scored just like I expected. In some papers it was exactly what I expected. I scored good in PI. But even if I did not, I would have cracked the exam because of good marks in the written. So, if your written exam has gone well, don’t listen to what others have to say, prepare well for the interview and keep calm. You will suceed.
Now, some expected questions based on my experience—–
1. Questions about your current job is common.
2. Questions about your native town, district is common; like how many revenue circles, sub-division it has, names of rivers in that place, name of the DC and SP, etc etc.
3. One question is most definite—what is your first preference? Based on your answer, they will ask- why ACS or Why APS etc.
4. Questions on the subject of your master degree, honours are also very common.
5. Question on women empowerment like- what are your ideas to empower women? Women candidate can be pretty sure of being asked this question.
6. Last time NRC was a hot topic. This time too, you can prepare yourself for questions on this topic. Like- Assam Accord, Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh etc.
7. Since Elections have just been over, questions related to it can also be expected. Like- about the MLA of your constituency, the newly appointed Minsters etc.
Some tips based on my experince-
1. I did disagree with the interviewers on some points. So, I think it’s ok to diagree but in a polite tone. Make it sound like you firmly believe your view instead of trying to prove that the interviewers are wrong (at times, they moght be).
2. When you do not know the answer, say you don’t know. I said ‘Sorry, naam tu pahorisu’, when they asked me the name of some person. They said, “Eku nai, sab janibo lagibo buli katha nai’.
So, if you don’t have the answer, don’t get nervous and panic. It’s ok not to know.
3. While waiting for the interview, I avoided listening to other candidates. Like- the expericne of the ones who went before me. I personally feel, if they say they had a bad experince, out of apprehensions, you might get nervous, which in turn can affect your performance. Also, if you don’t know much about the topics they were asked, you are sure to get more nervous. You cannot prepare on those topics few minutes before the interview. So, why unnecessarily get nervous?
4. WEAR formals. A light coloured shirt, formal pamts and shoes should do. I found that all female candidates wore Mekhla Chadar.
Good luck to everyone who will be appearing in the PI. After months, I visited this site and felt that there are so many deserving candidates, who have been demoralised by all the news/rumours. I hope these words of mine can boost your confidence.
@caporegime….thank you
