The lowest cutoff was 762 or 47.62% for Inspector of taxes post in Scheduled Tribe (Hills) category. Category wise, lowest cutoff score for General category was 927 or (57.93%). Lowest OBC cutoff was 833 i.e. 52%. Compared to UPSC Civil Services examination, these values are high.

APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:

Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.

Date of APSC 2013 Main results:

Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. • after going through the paper and recalling how i worte …now i feel it will be less than 130 in gs …. i really pray the examiner understand my handwritting and that too towards the last part……now i will have to stop looking at the gs paper ..the more i check the more i reduce my marks …..

    @pranjal what’s ur optional …mine is law and political science

  • @Pranjal , i have wrote 4 pages …it would be around 280 words ….could not help it to keep it within wordlimit and for my expectation ..to be honest if i would have checked my paper i would have given between 130-145 out of 300 because it is the quality that is missing …in rush of completing the paper within 3 hrs i had to compromise my standard of writing as well as my handwriting …. i too have the opinion that the standard of the paper was not upto the mark…..i feel waste of energy and time ….. anyone who have prepared only for a week could do well in this paper……… i really feel sorry for myself…. months of preparation gone waste in studying for GS.

    i think i should now start preparing for other competitive examination like assam judicial service etc….was very much optimistic that i could crack the exam with fairness ….but observing the conversation and their opinion on APSC about corruption had really demoralized my outlook towards this exam….

    I think word limit is only a guiding principle…itz quality rather than quantity that matters…itz even more better if u can maintain both..bt in gs its hard to maintain.. by d way how long u wrote d lang 16 mark answers?? How mauch u r expecting??
    @Raj
    2009 Mains highest 984/1400
    2013 Mains highest should in between 980-990 since topper Dipti Morang scored 1171(heard in d R.T.I cell of APSC dat she got 190 in VIVA..so 1171-190=981.

  • Frankly speaking most of us are bound by a fear ,self inflicted or may be conditions forced ,that even though we hate corruption,injustice we screech about it only when our own stakes are at risk,we know that there is back stabbing or back entry in this year’s list ,not all mind you are frauds, but we can stand alone and decry openly just because the fear in the minds,what if apsc will redmark me,what if i get trough this time playing safe or things like that,and i honestly speak that’s why there is injustice everywhere,even i am like such a timid rabbit who can’t sit infront of apsc and scream in disdain ,and that’s why we fail as a nation…that fear to lead a march,that greed to play safe….slowly the smoes will fade away and engulfed in memory till a new list with hefty nepotism and unworthy winners come up….Sigh.

  • I second Ranjan,Enthusiastic,Ankita..not a single vacancy should be filled by wrong means..this list should be scrapped…

  • Ranjan Engti on

    Agree with Ankita’s comment. APSC has improved on its record of corruption & it has come down. But why should we be satisfied with 40% corruption & 60% merit? We want 100% selection to be on merit. Its our right. The situation has now changed a lot due to RTI, internet, Facebook where corruption can be easily exposed. Hence APSC must become corruption free. Belegotu corruption hoi buli koleu nohobo. We must start at something. Lets start this cleanup process with APSC.

  • @ Enthusiastic…. “Selection of even one undeserving candidate conks out the whole selection procedure”.. very true ! Someone told me “Agote 100% ghotala hoisil APSC’t etia 30% hoi” .. But why even that 30% for which some truly deserving meritorious candidates are left behind ? Actually even those who have been selected by dint of their hard work or merit can never understand a truly deserving candidate’s situation who has been deprived in this entire process. Because they just cannot be in our situation. Its always easy to speak and write about poverty and deprivation but unless one is faced with a similar situation only then one knows what does it really mean to be a poor.
