The lowest cutoff was 762 or 47.62% for Inspector of taxes post in Scheduled Tribe (Hills) category. Category wise, lowest cutoff score for General category was 927 or (57.93%). Lowest OBC cutoff was 833 i.e. 52%. Compared to UPSC Civil Services examination, these values are high.

APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:

Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.

Date of APSC 2013 Main results:

Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. I appreciate ur views n dat realy matters in a society like ours…..dnt misundrstnd me..i too have d same philosophy in LIFE..

    In my view if you are aiming the allied services(ACS/APS) than 840+ would be a decent score in mains considering average performance in viva(60%-65%).
    Last time cut off was 961 for ACS officer and 957 for APS officer.

    Else 780+ scorer have a good chance to reserve a berth in the final merit list.

    One more point regarding corruption in APSC is that I have seen many candidates appearing second time to improve their rank. I just believe there are enough chances for a honest candidate too.

    How can u predict what would b d highest marks in GS n G.ENGLISH? But I can provide u d highest marks obtained in last exam i.e. 2011 as follows
    G.S 289
    G.English 248
    N average marks , by that what u meant I did nt get it.

  • Hi friends, I appeared in apsc mains 2013 and attempted around 250-260 marks in the GS paper…does anyone have an idea on what would be the average score and highest score in that paper and even G.Eng….

    I respect ur opinions,i did nt meant u..i was just pointing those who instead of taking d exams seriously ,makes unneccessary hue n cry over whatever APSC does which derails d entire process of recruitment for which it takes 3-4 years in a single recruitment instead of one year.Yes,there are issues n I agree wid u on that.

    I hv lost all my question papers in the bus while going back to my work place Lakhimpur from Guwahati on 27th July..since than I could not see the papers due to lack of source n time..n i did not go through each paper properly after d exam as it diverts my attention from d next exam…still my G.S went well bt could nt count how much I attempted,may b more than 260..In English I left a large portion of grammar(due to time factor)bt other answers went well..in Economics both papers went well except a eight mark question..in Sociology I really enjoyed writing d second paper..so all my papers were of same standard..bt i cnt predict a numerical figure as it has been 2 months since mains held n i dnt have d question papers.

  • @kishorjit. ..I agree with your view about the marking…but I differ on one thing on both of you. …apsc is not the cleanest organisations we have around…we all know that….but that does not mean you or me should not sit for it…I have no blind faith on apsc or in fact on any institution…but that won’t stop me from trying to crack in…and if I do at least I will try my best to keep it clean…I may not be able to to change the system but at least I am sure like hell that I will be honest and that I will at least not add more to the mess…that’s my view and you might differ…I respect your opinions. .:)

  • Vikramjit Lama on

    @kishorejit. Bhaiti, i just gave you a very high expectation figure. I am expecting 780. It.now all depends on how strict or lenient the examiner checks the papers.

    @Monica
    I hv gone through few answer scripts of last two mains exam of my friends including myself,n it is not always that same answer fetches same marks..m nt saying all…even in my last exam, 25 marks of my G.S paper were not evaluated…evaluation being subjective u cant predict accurateness..i did quite poor in my G.English in 2009 mains and got 121 in G.English..n did well in 2011 in G.English and got 70!!!! One of my friend got 10/10 in all 10 markers,8/8 in all 8 markers,i saw his paper…same quality ,handwriting and conciseness fetched me and others 6-7/10 and to him 10/10…being subjective evaluation dnt follow a specific criteria..I dnt want to oppose ur views,bt jst sharing my experince.I do agree wid u that those who dnt have faith in d system should nt sit in d exam.

  • kishorjit das on

    @vikramjit
    Ur total expectation counts to 800 ..if u get that n even around that i can assure u, u ll defintly b in d top 75 list..provided u dont get absurd marks in viva.In d last exam only 40 guys got 800+ in mains.

  • @kishorjit….thanks. ..that was informative…:)

    @Din
    Mains score seals d fate of most candidates in APSC ..In UPSC viva ,there is a vast range(before CSAT induction) ,and a underperformer gets as less as 40-50/300 by d commission deliberately so dat he dosnt gt selected in any post ,whatever his score in mains and a super performer in vva gets as high as 230-240 so dat he gets best of d post…bt in APSC viva marks ranges from 130 to 180, n few fortunate one gets more than that.An average performer gets 130-140 n a well performer gets 160-170.So viva marks doesnt efect overall score to a great extent…however since 1 mark is quite vital in this kind of exam ..viva marks can influence what post u get if u r not in d top 100 in mains merit list.And those who are above 200 in mains merit list need 190+ in viva.I m jst sharing my experience wid u.All d best.

  • @Monica .. I’ ve been following ur comments .. I must say dat u r quite logical n ur responses make a lot of sense. its nt dt dose of others do not. M expecting around 876-870. wat do u say?
