The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA) is a Law University located in Guwahati city of Assam. It was established in 2011, under the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009. The NLUJAA will provide and promote modern judicial education and research facilities. It will benefit students and scholars from North East India as well as other states of India.
History:
The NLUJAA was established by the Government of Assam under the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009). This Act was later amended as the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (Amendment) Act, 2011 (Act II of 2012) and the word ‘School’ was substituted with ‘University’. The National Law University and Judicial Acad is modeled on the lines of NLSIU, Banglore. The Chancellor of the University is the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court.
The NLUJA, Assam has been registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(F) of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956. It is recognized by the Bar Council of India. The university has also been granted membership of the Association of India Universities, New Delhi.

The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam offers following courses:
- B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) – Five Years Integrated Degree Course
- LL.M. – Two Years Post Graduate Course.
In case of the Post Graduate course, specialization options are available in following: Business Law, Constitutional Law, Consumer Protection Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, Intellectual Property Law and International Law.
Campus:
Its present address of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam is the North Eastern Judicial Officer’s Training Institute (NEJOTI) at Ulubari, Guwahati. A permanent campus of the Assam Law University is coming up at Agiyathuri, Amingaon. Set amidst the lush greenery, on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra river, the campus covers an area of 21 acres.
