APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:

Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.

Date of APSC 2013 Main results:

Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. • Guys…. last time what was the minimum marks in d viva…..?

  • vikramjit is 100% correct, however those analysis gives some courage for continuing our preparations

  • thanks monica ji… but anyhow if it will be less than 730 than i might be on the line of competition….

  • Vikramjit Lama on

Fellows, its no point getting stressed out discussing the high mains cut offs. The speculations are endless – 780, 770, 760, 750, 740, 730, 720, 710, blah blah. Its ridiculous discussing the cut offs. Nobody knows how high or how less it could be. It could be whatever. Relax. You did what you could during the exams. Now just wait, have hope, pray. Dont worry. Whatever happens, will be the best for you.

Last year I scored 100 in GS and 112 in English but in optional it was hopless(history 1-50,history 2-85,ASSAMESE 1-75,ASSAMESE 2-76)

Last time cut off for OC was between 238 or 242 (actually I have forgotten exact figure but sure that one of the aforesaid figures) in prelims .

  • Why too much cutoff Speculation is useless
    • If India won 2011’s world cup by making 250 runs, does it mean India will win 2015’s world cup by making 250 runs? Then why are you trying “extrapolate” the RTI replies of previous cut-offs to speculate 2013’s cut-offs! Each year’s exam is a separate thing with separate difficulty and separate crowd.
    • Second, in the online forums and facebook communities, people post their score based on the answers or calculations which gives them maximum marks! So you don’t get a standard data in the first place. You need a huge sample data to statistically predict the cut-offs. But In the Internet, roughly 1 to 2 % of the Candidates do discussions
    • So let APSC come out with cut-off data, there is no point in cut-off speculation.
    • The exam finished on July 27 of Sunday, right now it is 17th September, lets concentrate on other things guys.
    • We all can become toppers. Best of Luck to all

  • I don’t speculate cutoffs. Don’t raise you blood pressure over random people’s online scores, if you had prepared sincerely, you’ll surely pass. Hard work is in your hand. One exam is over then you prepare for some other exam or next stage of the given exam. Don’t loose your sleep over cut-offs.

Please stop worrying about what already happened. Your entire energy should be focused on upcoming exams. Let APSC alone decide your fate.

Just realize that you do not have options. Sooner you realize the better – someone somewhere is already preparing for upcoming Exams with an aim to get the top rank.

  • i think rajen’s analysis is bang on target. m all for 55%. if rajen can manage 9 more .. d cut-off will sit pretty at 779. dats exactly ’100 more’ than d prev cut off for OC. Yup! u read it right .. 100 more.

  • can anyone plz share the 2014 prelims(last time) cut off for oc…….

  • As far as my analysis is concern, cut off for mains shall be between 52 to 55%,not more than that…..i have never heard of more than 55% cut off in any state civil service…..

  • Vikramjit Lama on

Guys, that SDO i was talking to, said that the mains results could be delayed. He called up the commission office in front of me, and said that the mains results would be out by November end, since october is full of holidays. So we can expect it to be out by Nov end or first half of December for sure.

@Admin. Do the ACS and APS officers get honorary IAS and IPS rank before retirement or one has to be the luckiest person to get one? Last year UPSC had brought out a scheme by which state civil service officers can become an IAS, IPS by giving a 1000 marks paper, but one should have served minimum 8 years in the service. Has that become a reality or is it stuck somewhere in redtape and indifference by the state government? Its really sad to hear about our state civil servants who never get their due promotions. Its really demotivating. That explains the massive corruption that takes place. I guess its only natural to do so when stuck in such a filthy situation. Nobody seems to be giving the thought of genuine development of the state any damn.

  • @Vikramjit,
That SDO was right. After looking at the current strength and status of ACS, one can get a good idea of what’s going on inside. There’s no regular or established pattern of promotion here. Batch-wise, youngest SDO is from 1995 batch and ADC is from 1993 batch. But many 1995 batch officers are serving as EAC. And one from 1993 batch is still EAC. Last ACS deputy commissioner was from 1986 batch. Before joining the Assam civil services, one must accept this fact – ACS is not IAS.

  • @admin,

Kindly upload / post a sample question paper on General Studies for the benefit of those appearing in d forthcoming CCPE.

  • Vikramjit Lama on

@admin, i get what u r trying to say. I just spoke to an SDO about the ACS, its service rules and terms and conditions, and its promotions. He sounded pessimistic about promotions, and said that many of the ACS entrants dont usually make it to the DC level. He said they retire as ADCs, forget about reaching the level of Additional Secretary, Special Secretary, Secretary, Commissioner, etc. He said that the OC or General Category guys get the last promotions compared to the reseved sections. He said that a GC person may have to spend around 15-20 years as EAC to become an SDO, and another 10-15 years as an SDO to become ADC/ADM. So he told me not to have any high expectations as ACS was not IAS. Admin, pl discuss. Others, pl discuss also. Its imp to know about the jobs we could join one day.

  • @Vikramjit,
It is not necessary that every Indian state should have an uniform Civil Services Cadre system. Assam Civil Services Cadre consists of following categories: Junior Grade, Senior Grade-II, Senior Grade-I, Selection Grade, Additional Secretary, Secretary and Commissioner & Secretary. So, Junior Grade is the starting category of Assam Civil Services.

  • Expected cut off for mains will be in the range of 750-780.

  • Vikramjit Lama on

Guys, whats the meaning of Junior Grade? The payscale for an ACS officer entrant starts from Rs. 12,500 whereas that of an WBCS entrant, i.e. BDO starts from Rs. 15,000. They start as Senior Grade and get quick promotions. Why this difference in our state. Why is our state not giving the same benifits equal to that of an WBCS officer. Also, why aren’t our officers called SDMs, ADMs, DMs, like the way they are called in our neighbouring state? In rajasthan it is called Rajasthan Administrative Service, with entrants starting as Senior Grade officers with quicker promotions and other benifits. Why not the same case in assam? Any thoughtful person with insights, pl discuss.
