The lowest cutoff was 762 or 47.62% for Inspector of taxes post in Scheduled Tribe (Hills) category. Category wise, lowest cutoff score for General category was 927 or (57.93%). Lowest OBC cutoff was 833 i.e. 52%. Compared to UPSC Civil Services examination, these values are high.
APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:
Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.
Date of APSC 2013 Main results:
Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. For views and opinion related to APSC civil services exam, don’t forget to view this APSC 2013 discussion page.

@ Enthu
Socio kenekua hol n overall kenekua hol??
Thanks @enthu for your straight and sharp advice,you are an honest humble heart,wish you success in life too.
@niyorkona way to go… Gr8 attitude which will definitely take you far..
@din.. Please don’t let criticism bother you.. As @pranjal said we all believe in you.. Show me another person who has the guts to ignore reservations in this tough competitive world.. We miss your guidance.
@dimbe, bro I salute your indomitable spirit & zest for success amidst unfortunate, insurmountable odds & calamitous events in your life. It entails huge courage & determination and I see them aplenty in you. I understand your perplexity. That is why I am going to put forward my humble opinion without adding to your owe.
I think you should stick around with your current Optionals. Grass is always green on the other side of the river. Instead of expecting generosity from the examiner who you have no control over, you should farther delve into these subjects. By no means I am insinuating that your knowledge level is shallow. I am only of the view that you should take your hold over these subjects to the next level.. Starting afresh with a new optional would put you at par with tenderfeet which is so undesirable..
@dimbe, these are my honest & humble opinions. I hope you take it positively. We all want you to succeed & more than that you know what, we all know you will succeed..
@pranjal,thanks bro,let’s see,say i keep socio and leave education where also marks been discouraging this year.What is your second optional?
@Dimbe
Typing mistake wrote Dumb..in d earler post…sorry bro!
@Dimbe
All think Socio n edu as easier optiinal…bcoz syllabus is reltively small dan others.I hv also taken Socio n last time got 86 n 119 respectively. I m also in d same dillema..whether to go with socio or drop it. I can take Pol.science but this time pol.science paper seem to be quite evaluative n subjective..soring ll depend a lot on evaluators likes n dislikes.After writing two consequetive mains I think I m in a advantageous position dan freshers in terms of Socio..moreover a new subject ll take atleast 45-60 days for proper understanding..which means average studying of atleast 6-7 hours..which u may find difficult.If u r still not comfortable with socio aftr writing two mains u should drop it..but if u r somehow satisfied with ur preparation of socio u can carry on considering all d circumstances.
Thank you @admin for an elaborated reply.
Thank you @arup,will need your guidance.
@Niyorkona

@Dimbe,
After two Mains, you are pretty much well acquainted with this combination. Right? Changing optional subject at this stage means you’ll have to start fresh as a first timer. And as usual your score will depend on many factors including your comfort level. In our view, changing optional just because of bad marks or tough paper (not in this case) is not wise. No one can predict that the same thing won’t happen with the new paper next year. And this is APSC! A single process of CCE takes 2 years and there’s no fixed date of new notification. Losing one chance just because of a new subject makes no sense.
Some scoring subjects according to veterans: Geography, Political Science, History, Fishery, Agriculture, Computer Science, Physics, Sociology, Education etc. Some subjects are scoring. Why? It may be due to various reasons including generous examiners, small number of candidates, direct answers are enough (in case of science subjects), candidates are good at memorizing etc. And some subjects are not scoring. Why? It may be due to reasons like mindset of examiners, strict evaluation, candidate is direct to the point (in case of arts subjects) etc. Again, what is scoring for one person may not be same for another person. Your combination is one of the most common and preferred one. But last year, many candidates scored badly in some papers including Sociology. Specially in Sociology first paper, many got just around 60. Something went wrong, but not necessarily fishy! Maybe the evaluators were different or their approach didn’t matched with most of the candidates.
You have already appeared twice with the same subjects. So, you have advantage over the new comers. Utilize it. Concentrate on improving your expertise on the subject and appear with confidence. And be positive about your 2014 results.
@dimbe
Bro, I like your spirit…. I will be happy to help u. Plz contact me at arup.bora2007@gmail.com
Niyorkona, I am ever ready to guide new aspirants. Plz contact via my email.
I have come across this beautiful platform just recently. Hope you excuse me if you sometimes find my queries out of place or context. At the very outset through this forum I congratulate Dinchengfa ba whose interviews I have read in newspapers & all others who came out with flying colours in CCE 13.. Hope you guide me as the coming prelims would be my first shot at a civil services exam.
I look forward to guidance from the forum’s ever generous contributors like @prithwi, @winner, @arup, @pranjal & all those names I have not mentioned but acknowledge.
@Dimbe,stick with your optionals if u r comfortable with the subjects.u have already devoted many hours for those.
Writing with a hope to get some serious response from @admin and @all who cleared or hoping to clear,i have already mentioned about me being thrown into PH category after a sudden neuro attack incapacitating my whole body and leaving me paraplegic in 2009 just after my mba from petroleum university dehradun.Leaving aside the poor phases and pain both in mind and heart ,i appeared and sat for interview in 2013 mains but despite all the hopes ,things didn’t go well.So was a bit lost but life is all about fights,so appeared this time in mains again and did better,but am still in a state of worry and confusion as my optional subjects are education and sociology where in 13,i scored 78,79,65,116 respectively which was a big let down despite exams going pretty well.Later, i came to know that almost everyone with socio and edu had some abysmal marks,unfortunately i was so positive about clearing cc 13 that i didn’t think of or rather had no time to change optionals as i came to know about the low scoring pattern only recently.Even though this time i did better with these same subjects, i am still doubtful whether drastically marking system will improve.
So,not leaving hopes and dreading about nepotism or malpractices,i am looking for the next attempt where i want to change my optionals,atleast one of the twos,socio or edu.My friends who have been selected, had history as optional wheremarks allotted have been outstanding but looking at my current horrible health condition i won’t be able to devote so many hours a day in history as daily physical exercises from physiotherapy consume 6/7 hours.
So, my humble yet sincere request to admin and the rest helpful students,please suggest a subject where syllabus is not as huge as history which i can complete within my capacity and where i would score more than atleast 130/140 per paper.And i will then keep one of these two subjects education or socio.
Please,eagerly waiting for a prompt and ardent reply.And sorry for the big post in a busy life schedule of yours.Please do reply.
