Questionable or doubtful! According to study materials of some Delhi coaching centres: Harmattan and Sirocco are both hot and dry winds. Sirocco covers North Africa, Italy, Sicily etc. Harmattan covers West Africa, Nigera, Ghana etc. And both carries dust. According to TMGH General Studies For Civil Services: Sirocco is a hot dust laden wind that blows eastwards from Sahara across the Mediterranean and raises the temp of the areas. Harmattan is a relatively cool dry wind blowing over Sahara in winter season. According to Pearsons General Studies Manual: Sirocco is a hot moist wind that blows from Sahara. Sometimes Sirocco carries Sahara dust. Harmattan is a cool, extremely dry wind that forms over Sahara. It is relatively cool because Sahara is cool during the dry season from December to Feb.

According to NASA: Winter and spring dust storms are common in Western Africa when the sirocco winds, hot, dry, dust-laden winds, blow north and northwest out of the Sahara desert. Harmattan is a strong trade wind which arises in Sahara and blows south across West Africa in the winter (November to March). Heavy dust storms are common in the region during this time.

  • @Golmaal,
It’s alright. We are here to learn and share information, experience and ideas. We are glad that you cleared your doubt.

  • @admin, sorry for the rude comment.. Your answer is absolutely right. Got it now.. Thanks..

  • Why are people confused about the Question No. 45? Absolute answer is b) NORTH EAST.

  • I think cutoff marks this time for Open category ..276+, for OBC 260+ and for ST/SC 260+ anyone expecting below that has little chance of selected…I am also doubtful regarding this

  • @Golmaal,
Can you point out the source from where we copied the answer? The diagram and explanations are prepared by us. We only took the compass image from Internet. We thought a little bit of explaining might help the confused users.

While solving the problem don’t mix original with modified direction. In case of our image, image on left represents original direction. Question says South-East becomes North. Note the word becomes. That means you need to look at the image on Right, not Left. No further explanations required.

  • @admin, in the question no 45 it is clearly mentioned that SE becomes North whereas in your diagram you have shown SW as North… So the answer would be North West… Please solve the problem for yourself. You have just copy pasted a solution to an another question..

  • @friend bishnu jyoti if u belongs to reserved category then keep the lamp of hope.
I am expecting 250+ and I dont think that cut off this year 270/280.

  • bishnu jyoti on

    @arun, expecting 240+
    Your’s??

  • @bishnu jyoti, how much marks u r expecting?????

  • Bishnu jyoti on

Everyone expecting more than enough marks. This time I am out of race frnds, expecting only few marks.

  • What is Assam Land and Revenue Service? What is its difference with Assam Civil Service?

  • the criteria as what defines most important tax is not stated in the question .. excise duty is not used to price control measure.. price control measure involves rbi monetary policy.. excise duty is defined at the budget and it doesn’t involve constant change in accordance with the inflationary pressure..

  • ministry of economic affairs does not present the budget to the parliament.. it only prepare the budget..

  • In 1896, a plague epidemic spread from Mumbai to Pune, and by January 1897 it reached epidemic proportions. In order to suppress the epidemic and prevent its spread, a Special Plague Committee was appointed under W.C. Rand, I.C.S., Assistant Collector of Pune. Tilak took up the people’s cause by publishing inflammatory articles in his Marathi paper Kesari, quoting the Bhagavad Gita to say that no blame could be attached to anyone who killed an oppressor without any thought of reward.

Following this, on June 22, 1897, Rand and another British officer, Lt. Ayerst were shot and killed by the Chapekar brothers and their associates. Tilak was charged with incitement to murder and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

When he emerged from prison, he was revered as a martyr and a national hero. He adopted a new slogan, “Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it.”

  • Admin plz confirm the expected cut off

  • I don’t know about others but I found the GS paper to be comparatively tough than last year…my guess they will call around 700 students (510boys &girls+ 190 only girls) for UR category.. Considering scores like 300+= 130 candidate 290-299= 140candidate 280-89= 170 candidates 270-279=230 canditates still if we consider the remaining candidates to be girls only to adjust the 30% pledge than also cutoff would be like 266…so according to me anybody in UN category who are expecting more than 260+ can hope to get a call for mains..

  • Ans 82 C ,its south India. admin check

  • deepmoy thakuria on

My optional was anthropology and the paper was a easy one expecting around 170 but general studies I am getting around 140 I belong to obc what are my chances
