Questionable or doubtful! According to study materials of some Delhi coaching centres: Harmattan and Sirocco are both hot and dry winds. Sirocco covers North Africa, Italy, Sicily etc. Harmattan covers West Africa, Nigera, Ghana etc. And both carries dust. According to TMGH General Studies For Civil Services: Sirocco is a hot dust laden wind that blows eastwards from Sahara across the Mediterranean and raises the temp of the areas. Harmattan is a relatively cool dry wind blowing over Sahara in winter season. According to Pearsons General Studies Manual: Sirocco is a hot moist wind that blows from Sahara. Sometimes Sirocco carries Sahara dust. Harmattan is a cool, extremely dry wind that forms over Sahara. It is relatively cool because Sahara is cool during the dry season from December to Feb.

According to NASA: Winter and spring dust storms are common in Western Africa when the sirocco winds, hot, dry, dust-laden winds, blow north and northwest out of the Sahara desert. Harmattan is a strong trade wind which arises in Sahara and blows south across West Africa in the winter (November to March). Heavy dust storms are common in the region during this time.

    Frankly speaking cut off depends on many factors….number of candidates appeared, no of posts, and most important whether there is leakage of question paper or not…last time some of the privileged candidates could score 100% in GS paper despite the fact that there are many wrong answers in the official answer key….this time political science paper is a some kind of revenge…. UPSC used to have scalling system during optional subject era…but dont know about Apsc….how can we expect such a progressive system from such a shameless institution…history paper is the best example of their efficiency…..

  • @Aditya Saikia,
    In Constitution of India, Article 21A is listed in PART III, under Fundamental Rights heading. It states: Right to Education – The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years in such manner as the State may, by law, determine.
    It applies to age group 6-14 years only. But it is a fundamental right.

  • Aditya saikia on

    Dear #Admin
    “Education” is in DPSP , FD, FR , but when we will say “Right to education ” then it is in “Fundamental Rights” under 21A of COI, another point COI 21 A, is a “Right to elementary education”, and there is a huge difference among them.

    And there is a discretion in this issue, there is no place mention as RTE , except “Right to Education , act 2009″ which is an act of parliament, so there is a reserve in this answer whether the answer will be Fundamental right or legal right.

  • @admn, please post law answer keys

  • sujit sutradhar on

  • @Arun & Pinky Dutta,
    Please check our explanation above.

    @harjit,
    Thank you for posting the answers. Unfortunately we don’t have the sociology paper to cross-check. Hope others will leave their valuable feedback.

  • @pinky, I do agree with u.
    Correct answer of ques.no 45 should be option (d) north west.

  • @admin
    Q45. The answer cannot be (b) northeast because it has already been mentioned in the question that northeast becomes west. So the answer should be (d) north west
