Who was responsible for Burning of Ahom Buranjis?
Answer
Kirti Chandra Barbarua. An Ahom noble, Kirti Chandra Barbarua convinced King Rajeswar Singha to confiscate all the Ahom Buranjis (Historical chronicles) in the kingdom. He ordered burning of each and every Buranji that were not favourable to him or his past. It started when Kirti Chandra Barbarua noticed that his menial family background is a topic of gossip. The action was taken to guard own low and dubious background. But Assam lost many valuable Ahom Buranjis which could have shed more light on the days of Ahom rule.

You both are making me confuse, please update the correct answer, as it sets an implications on the readers like us from Arunachal to understand the mighty Ahom empire.
Sokori pheti buronji was translated into assamese in 1991 by nisadeu chao nagen hazarika. It is available in market.
Please pardon me for my mistake. It indeed was during the reign of Chao Siu Rem Pha (Swargadeo Rajeshwar Simha) that this incident of the burning of chronicles took place. Nevertheless, not all the copies of the Chakaripheti could be destroyed owing to the importance the Assamese nobles and people gave to historiography during that time.

I agree with the given answer, but as far as I know, Kirti Chandra Barbarua committed this crime during the period of Swargadeo Lakshmi Singha or Chao Sunyeopha’s reign. He had grown too powerful and on the other hand, the king was too weak. The king also favoured the Barbarua. It was not during the Reign of Swargadeo Rajeshwar Singha I suppose.
