The Umananda temple in Guwahati was built by Ahom King Swargadeo Gadadhar Singha. The Umananda temple or Uma nanda Dewaloi is a Shiva Temple on the peacock island in Brahmaputra river, near Guwahati, Assam. The temple was built in around 1694 AD. The present Umananda temple is not the one built by Gadadhar Singha. The original temple was destroyed in 1897 by a massive 8.1 scale earthquake. The rebuilt temple still have several rock-cut images of Hindu deities.
