The All Assam Students Union (AASU) was formed in 1967. AASU was formed combining existing student unions of Assam including the All Assam Students’ Association. In 1966, the all Guwahati Inter College Students’ Union, and the Cotton College Union Society conceived the idea of forming All Assam Students’ Union. In 1967, the first AASU central committee was formed and they adopted the constitution of AASU. Today, AASU is the largest and most influential student union of Assam.
