It’s goal was to make provisions for proper management and control of elementary education system and also provide for compulsory and free elementary education in the state. Assam Elementary Education Act defined elementary education as upto the standard or class eighth (VIII). In order to help government in development, expansion and management of elementary education in Assam, the act provided for constitution of the State Board for Elementary Education.
