Pioli Phukan (1955) – Assamese Film

Pioli Phukan is an Assamese feature film. It was based on the life of freedom fighter Piyali Phukan and was directed by Phani Sarma. In this film, Phani Sarma played the role of Pioli Phukan (Piyoli Phukan), the protagonist. The music of film was composed by Bhupen Hazarika. It featured a beautiful song titled "Asomir Mukhate Hahi Nai Etiya", which was sung by Shamshad Begum, Bhupen Hazarika and Gunada Das. The movie Pioli Phukan was released in 1955. It won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese language.
