Who was the First Assamese Bharat Ratna?

Gopinath Bordoloi was the first Assamese to receive Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of India. He was the first Chief Minister of Assam state of India. He was popularly known as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi. In 1999, Bordoloi was posthumously honoured with Bharat Ratna award.
