Kaziranga National Park was the first National Park in Assam. It is located between Golaghat and Nagaon district of Assam. Started as a protected area (Proposed Reserved Forest) in 1905, Kaziranga was announced as National Park on February 11, 1974. Currently a World Heritage Site, the park is famous for it’s one-horned Rhino population. The Kaziranga National Park is also a Tiger Reserve and Important Bird Area.
