Atul Bordoloi – Assamese Film Director

Atul Bordoloi (1937 – 2010) is a noted film director from Assam. He was born in 1937 at Tarajan of Jorhat. The debut film of Atul Bordoloi was Aparajeyo, which he co-directed with Phani Talukdar, Gauri Barman and Munin Bayan under the banner of Chaturanga group. The film was released on May 6, 1970. Other Assamese movies directed by Bordoloi include Bonoria Phool (1973), Anutap (1973), Kallol (1978), Megh (1979), Grahan (1990), Dristi (1994) and Sinyor (1991). His Assamese movie "Kallol" received the National Award for Best Regional Film.

Besides directing feature films, Atul Bordoloi worked on several documentaries and television serials. He also served as sub-editor of Assamese daily newspaper Natun Asomiya. This noted Assamese film director passed away on August 10, 2010, due to a cardiac arrest. He was living in Dergaon of Golaghat district, Assam. Atul Bordoloi continued his work till his death.
