APSC 2013 Final Cutoff:
Cutoff marks are hard to predict. Because they are influenced by various factors such as candidates in different subjects, pattern of question papers, examiners etc. Higher standards of valuation can easily push cutoff scores down. But it is seen that cutoff marks of civil services examinations fluctuate within a range. The APSC Mains written examination was held in Guwahati from July 1 to July 27, 2014. Though nearly 3000 candidates were selected, several candidates didn’t appeared in the Mains. Also we heard that some papers were tougher than previous years. So, what will be the cutoff for APSC 2013? Will it be around 55-60% for General and 50-55% for OBC? Or it will change drastically? Have any good guess? Feel free to express your views.
Date of APSC 2013 Main results:
Any tentative dates for declaration of APSC 2013 Main exam results? If everything goes smoothly, APSC 2013 Mains examination results will be announced by the end of September or early October. That’s what one APSC employee told us. Basically it is too early to give an exact date. For views and opinion related to APSC civil services exam, don’t forget to view this APSC 2013 discussion page.
Guys… Last CCE attempt in 2009, Mains cleared… Appearing in cce 2016 after a long hiatus… What should be my focus areas in the run up to prelims?
@jay: I appeared in cce 13 (escaped ’14): my marks as per d RTI reply were: GS (110), GE (194), Pol Sc (110, 120), Sociology (80, 120), Interview (154). The first co-ordinate denotes first paper in case of optionals. GS and sociology 1st paper were d weak spots. Hope this time i have fared well in them.
@skud: will get back to ur query soon. Thanks.
@ skud…. please share your previous year’s marks. It will be of immense help to neophytes like me.
@ pristine….will you mind sharing your previous year’s marks? it will be of immense help to neophytes like me
@jay….no….
@pristine…..congratulations !!!! Could you please share name of the books for Pol Sc. and Sociology?….
@skud: u had very good score in GS in my opinion. Though optionals are important, GE n GS are like dark horses in this game. Pol Sc requires philosophical depth to some extent in 1st paper n consititution isnt d only thing in 2nd paper which contains other consitutions n small topics on public administration ie civil service n bureaucracy. About book list that i followed, i will post here some other time in great detail as i dont remember all of them precisely right now.
@jay: pol sc n sociology. I know many eyebrows will be raised :-D but gettin thru with d same optionals for 2nd time.
@skud ….have you qualified cce(m)15?
@ skid….. thanks a lot. GS is my weak area. I must have scored pathetic in this paper
@pristine…..edn & hist…. your optionals?
@all
kindly share preparation strategy for General Studies paper for CCE 2016….is the pattern going to change?…..
#you will share #
@Pristine….thanks for the guidance….how is Political Science as optional?….though I have natural liking for the History but being a working professional, it will not be possible for me to cover the syllabus within stipulated time…..so please through some light on Political Science…..and for Sociology also, what are the books that one should read?….kindly suggest if coaching is necessary….last time in CCE2014, I got 199 in G.S. and 155 in G.E…is it enough or is there any scope of improvement?…..I suppose you have cleared this time…..could you share your strategy for preparation and your optional subjects please….
@jay….congratulations to you….and all the best……I hope you will be share your preparation strategy……
@jay: wats ur optionals in cce 2015 mains? N yes u may be right in saying that marking pattern may be changed this time. @skud: history is a popular option in APSC as said by many experienced candidates. But syllabus is vast. If u start preparing from now, u can finish it by november (mains exam scheduled). Bottom line is: one should take that optional where his heart lies. Many instances are there when people with optionals like sociology came in the top rung of d list. If my memory has not deceived me, i can recollect the candidate with sixth position in previous year took sociology.
I hv also tkn Sociology in mains last time but could not clear it.. jst like Sku i m also in dilemma about tking Sociology nxt.. kindly help us get a clear picture
appearing in cce(p) 16 …. qualified cce(m)15 as well
@ jay…thanks..!!any way…I am appearing with Education as Prelims optional in CCE 2016….are you appearing in CCE 2016?or have you qualified the CCE2015 mains ?..
@ skud …… the marking pattern may change this time. wait till the final result of cce 15, then decide
@All
I have been taking Sociology along with Education as optional for the last two attempts….scoring in Education was 110-120 in each paper…..but in sociology I got as low as 70-80 in both the papers!! I am now intending to change Sociology ….will it be a wise deciaion at this moment?..What are the safe optionals I can take….? Kindly suggest….
Can any one tell me…how is Pol Science as optional for Mains….I took Education and Sociology earlier…..score in Education was 110-120 but in Sociology I scored as low as 69 in first paper…I have been taking the Education and Sociology combination for the last three years…could not clear Mains only because of low marks in Sociology…I am intending to change Sociology…will it be wise decision?…is there any other optional which can bring good score?…please sugggest…
