Basisthashram, Guwahati

The Basisthashram is situated in the southern-most rim of Guwahati city on the Sandhyachal hill. It is a well known holy cum picnic spot. It was named after the great vedic Sage Bashistha, who is said to have lived here. Three rivulets named Sandhya, Lalita and Kanta meet here and flow perennially adding scenic grandeur to the place. The distance from Guwahati Railway Station to Basistha is about 12 km. City buses runs from and to this place every ten minutes.
