APSC Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination

Assam Public Service Commission conducts Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for recruitment in various posts under different departments of Government of Assam. The CCE is commonly called as APSC exam or Assam Civil Services Exam. This page highlights the features and structure of APSC Combined Competitive Examination.

The APSC Assam Civil Service Combined Competitive Examination consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Personal Interview

APSC Preliminary Examination:

The APSC CCE preliminary examination consists of two papers of 200 marks each. The first paper is General Studies, while the second paper is on a subject chosen by the candidate (option subject). The questions are multiple choice objective type. The purpose of this examination is to screen out eligible candidates for the next round, which is main examination. The marks obtained in the APSC preliminary examination are not counted for determining the final selection.

APSC Main Examination:

The Main Examination of APSC CCE is a written examination consisting of six papers. The first two papers are: General English and General Studies. They are common for all candidates. But remaining four papers are of optional subjects. Candidates are required to select any two option subjects from a list. Each option subject has two papers. The total mark of APSC Mains exam is 1400.

  5. Two Engineering subjects

APSC Interview Test:

Candidates who qualify in Main Examination are called for an Interview test. This is the final stage of APSC Combined Competitive Examination. The marks of interview test are added to the marks scored in the written examination. The results of APSC Civil Services exam are announced via popular newspapers.
