The Pobitora is one of the major wildlife sanctuaries of Assam. It is situated in the Morigaon district. It was declared as a sanctuary in the year 1987. Total area covered by this sanctuary is 38.8 sq. km. The main attractions of this wildlife sanctuary are “One Horned Rhino”, Asian Buffalo, Wild Bear, Civet Cat and various species of birds. The distance of this sanctuary from Guwahati is about 60 km. and one can easily go there by car or bus.
