APSC RTI Application Format and Instructions

Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) provides various examination related information under the RTI Act 2005. RTI is the best way to get marks, cutoff details and other information related to Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) conducted by APSC. How to prepare an RTI application?

As APSC don’t have any standard RTI format, candidates often find it confusing to prepare an RTI application. The fact is, there’s no need of any standard format. Simply sending an application to the right authority with the details of information required and the Rs. 10 Indian Postal Order (IPO) for RTI fee would do the job. But using a formatted application is suggested. Following is a sample RTI Application.

Respected Sir/Madam,

Provide me the following information regarding the Combined Competitive (Preliminary / Main) Examination XXXX, which was conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on XX/XX/XXXX .

1. Photocopies of OMR sheets / Answer sheets of …(Enter your name such as Assams.info)….  (Roll Number: XXXXXXX.).
2. Marks allotted to Roll Number XXXXXXX  in each paper.
3. Cut off marks of each category (General / OBC / SC / ST / PH etc).
4. Marks allotted to qualified candidates and their category (General / OBC / SC / ST / PH etc).
5. Official Answer keys for General Studies (Series A) and ………………. Optional paper.

Along with this letter, I’ve attached the following:
1. Indian Postal Order worth Rs. 10, as RTI Application fees.

Sample RTI Format

Editing the RTI Application Format:

In the format provided by Assams.info, there are some dotted space (….) or multiple options. Enter relevant information in the dotted spaces and strike out the relevant option where multiple options exists. You can printout the RTI application format and enter the required information by handwriting. But, we advise that your edit our format in your Document Editor and enter the relevant information.

  1. In the Subject section, indicate the Name of the Combined Competitive Examination (Preliminary or Main). Then enter the Year of the examination.
  2. In the first paragraph of the application body, indicate the examination (Preliminary or Main) and enter the year of examination.
  3. Then go to the list of requested information. In the 1st item, enter Your full name and Roll number. In the 2nd item, enter your roll number in the dotted space. Use the 5th item if you are requesting information related to Preliminary examination. Otherwise, remove that line. As you may need to remove this line, you should edit the format for taking a printout.
  4. Finally, provide your signature after the Your Sincerely and enter your Name, full contact address, email, phone number, date and place.

Preparing the IPO for RTI application:

  1. Go to your nearest Post Office and ask for a Rs. 10 Indian Postal Order (IPO). Pay the money and get your IPO.
  2. In the Pay to section of the IPO, enter Accounts Officer, Assam Public Service Commission. In the At the Post Office at section, enter Khanapara. In the Name and Address area, enter your name and full address.
  3. In the counterfoil area, enter Accounts Officer, Assam Public Service Commission in the to whom area. In the at what office field, enter Khanapara, Guwahati. In Date sent field, enter the date.
  4. Take a photocopy of the IPO. Detach the counterfoil and keep it safely for future reference.

Sending your RTI application:

Attach the IPO to your RTI application. You can deliver the form via post or personally at the RTI Cell in APSC office. In case you are sending it via post, make sure that you use Speed Post and keep the Post office receipt for future reference. Never send RTI application via ordinary mail or courier. Submitting the application personally at the office is the best option.
