Majoni is a special financial assistance scheme for girl child in Assam state of India. It is a Assam government scheme established under Chief Minister’s Assam Bikash Yojana. The Majoni scheme was launched in Assam on February 27, 2009. The scheme is applicable only to would-be-mothers who get their check-ups done at a government hospital and girl child born at a government of charitable hospital. Majoni scheme is executed by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Benefits:
Assam’s Majoni scheme pays pregnant mothers Rs 1,000 for two health check ups (Rs. 500 each) and also provides a fixed deposit of Rs. 5000 for a newborn girl child. The fixed deposit of Rs 5,000 can be encased by the girl herself when she turns 18.
Eligibility:
- The birth must be Institutional (in a govt or charitable trust hospital).
- Families conforming to the Government Policy of Two Children only will be eligible.
- The birth must be registered following standard government procedure.
Assam Cooperative Apex bank manages the funds of Majoni scheme under Assam Bikash Yojana. The fixed deposit will be issued by the designated bank. Girl child and the date of maturity will be the 18th birthday of the girl (i.e. after completion of 18 years). In order to available the benefits of the fixed deposit, the girl child should not be married before attaining 18 years.
My daughters name is umme habiba born at jhagrarpar civil hospital dhubri 2011.applied majoni scheme. 4year passed yet no found the check.pls reply

My daughter is of age 5 years today. But till today she is not provided the Majoni Fund. It is to mentioned that she was born normally at Govt. Hospita, she is my first child and I have submitted the Majoni Fund’s form after a few days of her birth.
