Two School boys drown in river Brahmaputra

Two school boys were drowned in the Brahmaputra river today. The incident took place near Chunchali of Noonmati Sector 1, where seven class 9 students of the city based Gurukul Grammar School were partying on the river bank. One of them slipped and fell down in the Brahmaputra. To rescue his friend, the other one also jumped in the river but both of theme were swept away by the strong current of Brahmaputra.

The boys were identified as Saheer Ahmed and Sum Gayan. The army and National Disaster Reserve Force personnel were engaged in search operation. But chances are little that the boys are alive. Police later picked up the five others and found that one of them was drunk. Later the boys revealed that Saheer Ahmed and Sum Gayan were also drunk and all of them came to the picnic spot without the knowledge of their parents. They had came out from their houses citing outdoor school project works.
