Passenger train derails in Assam

Seven coaches of the Arunachal Pradesh Express passenger train derailed today at a place between Helem and Nij Bogaon in Assam. According to North East Frontier Railway sources the Murkongselek-Rangiya passenger train derailed at 0347 hours and none of the 400 passengers was hurt.

Railway officers have rushed to the spot to ascertain the cause of the mishap. The damaged tracks are being repaired to restore normal traffic on the section, which is under Rangiya division of North East Frontier Railway. In the meanwhile, all the passengers had been taken to the nearest station and arrangements were being made to send them to their destinations.
