Paresh Baruah, the commander-in-chief of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), finally lost his railway job! The Indian Railways has removed him from the post of porter for not attending the office once in three decades!
Yes, Paresh Baruah was an employee of Indian Railway. He joined the Tinsukia division of the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) as a porter in 1978. Last December, some media reports had claimed that Baruah was still a registered employee of the NFR. Then the railways conducted an inquiry into Baruah’s case and finally decided to remove his name from the rolls on the charge of not attending the office for over 30 years. The NFR on Thursday issued a formal notice on sacking Paresh Baruah from the service as per government procedures.
Paresh Baruah is one of the India’s most wanted persons. Along with five others, Baruah formed the ULFA in April 1979 to fight for sovereignty of Assam.
