Irish pop band Boyzone is planning to release a new album with vocals recorded by former member Stephen Gately before his recent death. The new record will feature two tracks that include vocals recorded by Gately, Boyzone lead singer Ronan Keating said on Sunday. Gately, aged 33, was found dead last month after a night out in Mallorca.

According to Ronan Keating, interviewed on Sky News in Britain, Gately had already recorded vocal parts for several songs, which will now be included on the next Boyzone album.

“We have already decided that the next album will feature Stephen,” he said. “We want to stick together because us being together consoles us at the moment. “We have a few songs with Stephen’s voice on it - what a rescue. Thank God we have that,” Keating said. “The fans will really appreciate it.”

Irish pop band Boyzone had popular mainstream success during the 1990s. The group were most successful in Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand; they also had differing levels of success in parts of Europe. The group have released six no.1 UK hit singles and four no.1 albums, with sales approaching 30 million records as of 2008.
