Assam News · November 8, 2009
Australia beat India by 6 wickets in the crucial sixth ODI played in Guwahati today. Chasing the 171 runs target, Australia made 172 for four in 41.5 overs at the Nehru Stadium. With this victory, Australia gained an unassailable 4-2 lead in the seven-match series.
Opting to bat first after winning toss, the team India only made 170 runs. In the slow pitch, Indian top-oder failed quickly and by the 31st over India lost 7 wickets for just 75 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (57) and Praveen Kumar (54 not out) did their best to put India in a good position. But their half-centuries went in vein as India lost the match after creating a pathetic 171 runs target.
The stars of the match were Man of the match Doug Bollinger and Mitchell Johnson, who took five and three wickets respectively.
