Michael Jackson dies at 50

Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" has died of cardiac arrest. Jackson, who was preparing for a comeback with a record-shattering 50 sold-out shows at London’s 20,000-seat O2 Arena in July, died Thursday afternoon (6/25) at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood after suffering cardiac arrest at his Bel-Air, California home.

michael_jackson According to news reports, Jackson, 50, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at 3:26 p.m. Paramedics tried to revive him on the ride over, but he slipped into a coma and was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m.

With the death of Michael Jackson, an era ends in music industry. Jackson was in his peak during the 1980s, when he was popular music’s premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage. He was ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time.
