Airport Workers Pushed Plane Off Runway

By Assam on September 25, 2008

Can you think about manually pushing an aeroplane off a runway! It actually happened at China’s Zhengzhou airport where the flight from Guilin had a rocky landing because of the mechanical failure. The hydraulic system on the plane was not working, so it could not be attached to a tow truck.

Pushing a Plane

And then the interesting think happened! The airport authority sent 30 airport workers to push the airplane to a side lane. It took them nearly two hours to push the 20 tonne medium-sized CRJ7 plane, with 69 passengers and seven crew member on board, less than half a mile to the side lane.

“Thank God, it was only a 20 tonne medium-sized airplane. If it had been a big plane, it would have knocked us out,” said one man, who said he had never experience anything like it in ten years working at the airport.
