Sanjoy Ghose killer encountered in Majuli

The Assam police and the Central Reserve Police Force killed Amrit Dutta, one fugitive militant of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in an encounter at Katonihati Jurbil under Jengraimukh police station of Majuli, Assam. Amrit Dutta had the charges of kidnapping and killing of a Non Government Organisation activist Sanjoy Ghose in Majuli.
According to police sources, the encounter happened at around 7.00 pm, when a joint team of police and the CRPF surrounded a house where Dutta was hiding with other militants. The militants opened fire on the security personnel who retaliated killing Dutta. Other two ULFA men managed to escape during the shooting.
