Using the Ancient Art of Chinese Feng Shui

By Assam on June 13, 2008

We are hearing more about alternative practices these days than ever before and people are becoming increasingly open minded. Many people are interested in the ancient science and art that is feng shui. They want to know whether it can really bring vitality and positive energy into their lives and help with such things as health, wealth and overall happiness.

While Chinese feng shui is no magic bullet that will cure any of your ailments or that will somehow cause a big bag of money to appear on your front door, there are many positive benefits one can receive when applying its principles to your life. Lets take a look at a few.

Using Chinese feng shui encourages harmony and peace in your household. By encouraging people to remove clutter from their environment and to take distracting influences out of their lives, it can help them be a lot happier. These principles must be applied based on the individual person, of course, since one person’s clutter might be another person’s treasure. Remember that applying Chinese feng shui is intended to encourage flows of positive energy. To decide what’s clutter, remove anything that brings negative feelings or energy, or makes you feel drained of positive energy.

You can apply this thought to your life as well as your material possessions. If you have a so-called friend, for example, who only calls you when she needs something and is usually over-emotional, do you really need this friend? If you feel exhausted and drained when she has finished speaking to you, is this person someone you need or can she be considered clutter? A so-called friend like this is just using you, taking everything and giving nothing in return. You should not feel bad about ending this particular friendship.

Asian cultures value hard work and giving your best to your career and your family. Chinese feng shui encourages you to use your energy in these ways, which will in turn encourage more positive energy to flow into your life. Think about ways to apply this to your own family.

Do you use your energy, resources and time to encourage strong family bonds? Do you see your family as deserving of your time and energy? Do you feel rewarded and happy when your family are in harmony and happy with one another? If you can understand and apply this Chinese feng shui principle that positive energy attracts more positive energy, you should work hard at strengthening your family bonds as much as you can.

It is true too that Chinese feng shui puts a great deal of emphasis on the use of color in ones home and environment, however, be careful that you dont fall for folklore and myth when it comes to this aspect of the art. There is no real basis for thinking that a red front door is lucky or special in any way, or that certain colors will bring prosperity and wealth when used abundantly.

Colors in rooms and home areas are just used to create moods. Dark colors will calm and soothe and bright colors will create a feeling of energy.

In these few ways, you can see how Chinese feng shui can add positive energy and vitality in your own life.
