Assam Results and Government Websites
By Assam on May 27, 2008

This is the result season in Assam. Results of all the major academic examinations are announced this season. Today, results of HSLC examination will be announced in all the districts of Assam. The official time for announcement is 11 am. But many newspapers informed people that the results will also be available over the internet. So, since yesterday many people are looking at these websites for the results of their near and dear ones. And interestingly, till now, no results on these websites.
Out of these websites resultsassam.nic.in is a government website and it is misleading people by showing “Coming Soon’ page. The web counter on this site shows that thousands of people are trying to get the results online. Does government care about common people? Why they can’t post early results on internet?
Who will do something to improve all these? Government sites means slow work. In this age of information technology these government officials of Assam updates these sites once in many year. The information, that they provide are of very inferior quality and outdated. There is no proper information for contact. This is how the websites of Assam government runs!
Right now, I can see many of my friends refreshing their browser windows to get a glimpse of HSLC 2008 results. Try my friends, try. This is Assam. Our neighbor state Nagaland can announce results at 5 am. But we can’t. This is Assam. Everything will happen slowly here.
Update: Results appeared after 11 am and the site is down now. This is what we call a government run website! If you are interested, you can visit the site here: http://resultsassam.nic.in/
